Kleftis is a secret order dedicated to the goddess Laverna. The organization is known around the world for being behind the theft of several famous treasures, as well as, in one rumor, the Great Colossus of Crail.

Organization Edit

Kleftis is organized into several cell groups. The majority of Kleftis members (known as Acolytes of Laverna) will never knowingly meet members outside of their own cell. Instead, the only interaction they get with the higher levels of the organization is through a single Elder, who directs their acolytes based on information gained through the Grand Elders.

Leadership of the organization is unknown to all members below the leader, but most believe the leader to be a powerful cleric of Laverna. Most members believe the leadership structure to be as follows, although some believe that there is a larger organization above The Leader. This is currently unconfirmed.

  1. Laverna Proper
  2. The Leader
  3. Grand Elders
  4. Elders
  5. Acolytes of Laverna

History Edit

Kleftis has existed for an unknown amount of time, but rumors would suggest that the organization has existed in some form for at least six hundred years. The official doctrine of the order is that Laverna came to a man named Armond and declared that he should become her mortal servant. He then became the first leader of Kleftis.

Eventually the organization grew by recruiting willing thieves and adventurers to its ranks, and it began to carry out ever more elaborate heists. These heists have since become the stuff of legend.

Notable Thefts Edit

Kleftis has allegedly stolen several major treasures and artifacts, including:

In addition, many minor thefts around the world get attributed to this organization, and many shop owners openly curse the name of Laverna.

Religious Beliefs Edit

The dogma put forth by Kleftis is kept hidden from the public. It's practitioners believe that thievery is a religious duty, and that Laverna desires regular sacrifices of material wealth in order to spread her power. They further believe that more audacious thefts please Laverna significantly more than small, petty theft, although most practice both. Therefore, the Elders of Kleftis play a constant game of staging ever more impressive heists in order to gain notoriety and followers for their goddess.

During a planned heist, the elders are known to collect information from all corners of the Disk in order to achieve victory. Additionally, they begin laying the groundwork for heists months in advance, including gathering intel, scoping out targets, and creating detailed contingency plans.

One notable feature about thefts conducted by Kleftis is that on the largest heists, the holy symbol of Laverna (a poppy) is left behind at the scene of the theft in order to mark it as the work of Laverna. In some cases, poppies have inexplicably appeared all around the city after a theft is completed.
